Things to do in Heaven... together.

Around here we're all about helping each other out... So we're sharing a local newsletter about the things we could go do this month if anybody needs to relax or get together with real people.

So one of the local passionate people (And there are many of them around here) takes his precious experience and current time, and constructs this beautifull overview of things to go do this month…

So , here I am… with all these automatic tools at my disposal… We ingest information to then try and add value to whatever it can be applied too to add value right?

So… I guess I am obligated to translate and restructure all that beautifull stuff and post it here for you.

That’s how that works around here. What is there to do around here? Here’s how the locals see that…

Digital Tourist Letter of the B&B "La casa delle rondini"

Here in Le Marche… Beyond the hills… is the sea.

Our digital journey to discover the Marche region continues.

This region has been defined for its characteristics as "Italy in a region" as it boasts, on a smaller scale, all the characteristics of the "Bel Paese": sea and mountains, medieval villages and cities of art, cultivated hills and rich culinary traditions.

Among other things, the Marche region is perfect for tourists for those looking for beauty without the crowds. When you have to choose and define the location for a tourist trip, it is not necessary to stop and analyze the "where" and the "how" of such a trip, in the Marche ... "NO PROBLEM".

From the rolling hills dotted with vineyards and villages suspended in time, it is easy to reach the blue of the Adriatic Sea where the scent of freshly cut grass meets the salty sea breeze. In this region you don't have to choose between nature or relaxation, between hinterland and beaches: you can have both, just a few minutes from each other. In addition, away from mass tourism, you can also discover several hidden treasures, all far from the most crowded destinations. Small medieval villages that seem to come out of a fairy tale and allow the traveler to feel like an explorer, not a tourist. There is no shortage of archaeological finds that can tell the long history of a land frequented by many ancient peoples, each of whom has left marks both outdoors and in the many archaeological museums. The culture of the Marche is not only in the museums, here the culture is "alive" as it is practiced by its inhabitants who all mobilize when the ancient local traditions are represented that offer tourists authentic and engaging cultural experiences. Culture can be breathed, daily, in the villages, in the squares, among the people, among the young people who dance the saltarello during the festivals, in the markets where they speak in dialect.

Finally, from "chaos" to "calm" we arrive when it is a rooster that wakes up and during the same day when the calm that lasts, from dusk until the next morning, conveys the certainty that all annoying noises are banned.

Go deeper than a postcard

The "living culture" is the one that is breathed, daily, in the villages, in the squares, among the people. It's not just in museums, it's in the lady who makes egg pasta by hand every Sunday, in the young people who dance the saltarello during festivals, in the markets where they speak in dialect. It is also interesting to be involved in real experiences: a day of grape harvest, an accordion workshop in Castelfidardo, a trek through the hills to discover a hermit or an ancient oil mill.

Experiencing the Marche is much more than visiting it.

The plurality of the regional name indicates and enhances plurality. The Marca Anconetana, the Fermana, Ascolana, Macerata and Pesaro areas offer tourists their soul: from cities of art such as Urbino, to the silent spirituality of the Sibillini Mountains, to the lively coast of the Adriatic. We are in a small region but with a thousand nuances, where the past and the present coexist in harmony.

There are numerous organizations of events with re-enactments of traditions that tell the past: historical re-enactments, festivals, music festivals in the squares, in the Marche the past is not only looked at in museums: you can hear, dance, taste. The various territories are a real treasure trove of living, fascinating and engaging traditions.

The Quintana of Ascoli Piceno: a knightly joust that dates back to 1377. The districts of the city compete in medieval costumes between drums, parades and tournaments on horseback. It is a blast from the past that involves the whole community.

The Carnival of Fano: one of the oldest in Italy, famous for the "throwing" of sweets thrown from allegorical floats. An explosion of colors, music and joy that attracts families from all over the region.

The Festa del Covo in Campocavallo di Osimo: every August, the inhabitants weave ears of wheat to create real votive works of art, in honor of the Madonna. It is an extraordinary example of folk art and devotion.

The Palio della Rana in Fermignano: a goliardic race in which participants push a wheelbarrow with a frog inside. Whoever arrives first wins without letting it come out! A mix of tradition, irony and community spirit.

The Race to the Sword in Camerino: a competition between the terzieri of the city to celebrate San Venanzo, with historical parades, taverns and a true medieval atmosphere.

Religious traditions: such as the bonfires for the coming of the Holy House of Loreto or the living nativity scenes in the villages during Christmas, which transform the streets into exciting scenery. Le Marche does not offer a holiday, it offers a journey into the soul of Italy. It is a land that cannot be visited: it is lived."
