Is Despiracy theory a Conspiracy?
Conspiracy theorists hunt shadows. Despiracy theorists face the mirror. You’re not trapped in the machine. You’re the mechanic keeping it running and billing yourself for the repair.
Conspiracy theory nuts right?
Whenever the words get spoken or thought of, soon after that someone will reference the quote “Never attribute to malice what can be explained by ordinary human stupidity." again anyways.
And there have been many serious one-liners about the subject , my favourite being romantically attribuated to Einstein in many cases. There isn’t any proof at all he once said this, but it can make you chuckle in the face of a bubbling existential dread you’d rather avoid.
“Two things seem to be infinite. The universe and the stupidity of mankind , but i’m not quite sure yet about the universe”
And since everyone loves to remember him as a quirky funny guy that fits your memory of his persona, this usually just gets remember in some mental box named “I could use this at an akward social gathering to try and avoid looking stupid” and that’s sort of how that things floats around for over a 100 years now.
There are some fascinating patterns to observe in all those things though , and in how we use language in relation to facts and the process of finetuning them.
So, a conspiracy is when “bad actors” conspire in secret to do bad things. Obviously they need to do this secretly , since otherwise the “non-bad-actors” would call them out on it and then whatever they were doing doesnt get them what they needed.
If you get caught stealing something… everyone will know it’s not yours and the illusion of that ownership can’t be help up against other humans. That concept of ownership only exist when you get to tell other people you own that thing and they believe you and agree with you on that.
It’s that agreement that is the real ownership there. Because if you’re sitting on an island all alone , and there are 3 rocks in front of you. The rocks don’t really care which ones are “yours”. And you can tell the coconut tree about it, but somehow it won’t quite feel like “owning” those rocks yet. Basically , they’re just there and you’re looking at them to then define your relationship with it.
I don’t think you’ll feel richer or poorer depening on the choice wether or not all 3 are “yours” or just 2 of them.
So that was all just a little context to try and get you to see that conspiracy theories are something super silly these days. Since they’ve actually been turned into a problem now that can be weaponized in all directions too.
So whenever I talk to people who are getting lost in rabbit holes and end up being one of those kinds of people who can laugh away anything horrible and wrong by calling it funny and entertaining… I bring up my concept of Despiracies. Because Conspiracy theories are just binary solutions , which are actualy the problem.
The topic being discussed is probably still something very worthwhile being investigated though, because it’s usually about bad people doing bad things and trying to get away with it. And your morality, ethos and sense of justice should normally be screaming at you to investigate anyways since that would the moral thing to do… to pay a lot of attention to those “bad actors” and try to determine if they should ever be believed about anything ever again. The entire basis of Law and Order and Justice and such isn’t it?
So that’s why I invented the concept “despirasies” for myself , and why I feel perfectly comforatable explaining to people why they’re so important to understand.
The response “But it’s not even a word!” and growing agression and detachment will then already give me a strong indication of what I’m dealing with here in that conversation. And just making it all go away with jokes in poor taste is also sort of the same thing in that situation. So just bringing it up is usually a very fast way to figure things out again.
Here as some general despiracies that I usually would want to talk about whenever any conversation or rethoric ends up in the lands of conspiracy theories.
The "meritocracy" despiracy
"Work hard and you’ll succeed… said the people who inherited factories, tax havens, and a planet not yet on fire. Meanwhile, we’ve rigged the game so ‘hard work’ = 3 jobs, no sleep, and blaming yourself when it fails."
The unconscious conspiracy: Pretending the system rewards effort, not luck/privilege, to keep losers fighting losers.
The "innovation" despiracy
"Let’s waste human genius optimizing ads for ugly sandals while pretending fusion energy/clean water/cancer cures are ‘too complex’ for our mighty brains. (But complex enough to profit from not solving!)."
The unconscious conspiracy: Fetishizing "progress" that only deepens dependency on broken systems.
The "Self-Care" despiracy
"You’re burned out because capitalism is eating your soul? Have a scented candle! Meditate while your boss steals your pension! Your exhaustion isn’t systemic, it’s a you problem. Now buy this $80 journal."
The unconscious conspiracy: Pathologizing sane reactions to insanity, then selling cure-adjacent merch.
The “education” despiracy
"We must train children for jobs that don’t exist yet, using methods proven to kill curiosity, because critical thinking would make them question why we’re doing this in the first place."
The unconscious conspiracy: Factory-model schooling (born in the Industrial Revolution) mass-produces compliant workers, not thinkers.
Reform is impossible because the people in charge succeeded within the broken system.
The cycle: Kill creativity → Reward conformity → Repeat.
The “Healthcare” Despiracy
"We’ll make people sicker with stress, processed food, and pollution, then profit endlessly from ‘treating’ them, while calling preventative care ‘unaffordable.’"
The unconscious conspiracy: Chronic illness fuels economic growth. A healthy, empowered population would collapse the medical-industrial complex.
The cycle: Create sickness → Sell cures → Sabotage prevention → Repeat.
The “Productivity” Despiracy
"Humans must work 60-hour weeks doing meaningless tasks to ‘earn’ the right to exist, while machines we built could feed, house, and free us all tomorrow."
The unconscious conspiracy: We invented technology to end scarcity, then redesigned society around artificial scarcity to justify exploitation.
The cycle: Invent labor-saving tech → Create more busywork → Demand more sacrifice → Repeat.
The “consumerism” despiracy
"Convince people they’re worthless unless they buy things they don’t need, using money they don’t have, to impress people they hate and then call it ‘the economy.’"
The unconscious conspiracy: Advertising preys on innate human vulnerability. Happiness is deliberately kept just out of reach to fuel spending.
The cycle: Manufacture insecurity → Sell solutions → Insecurity returns → Repeat.
The “climate” despiracy
"We know we’re making Earth uninhabitable, but we’ll keep doing it because switching would hurt quarterly profits, and anyway, it’s probably too late. Pass the jet fuel!"
The unconscious conspiracy: The system rewards short-term greed while outsourcing disaster to the poor/future. Action is "impossible" because those in power benefit now.
The cycle: Deny → Delay → Profit → Blame the public → Repeat.
But aren’t all of these just the “logical” consequences of the original Despiracy?
Which basically was kind of a conspiracy anyways , since it was all about a few elites talking about how to hide all of this from “the masses” … Which is exactly how this is still talked about today in a lot of places?
So here’s a good candidate for a “Seed-Despiracy” defining much if not all of our current problems.
“About 150 years ago everyone was so mentally retarded and stupid that it only made sense to make sure their children are raised in such a way as to always be more retarted and stupid the next time over… because well… That’s just the way it is right?”
And then we could wonder where that one actually comes from… Why would any normal human being ever debase and degrade himself to such a sad state of existence?
Well… It can sort of creep up on you in ways that it can even tear down the intelligent again. It’s a simple disease really. It’s just cannibalism to me.
Here’s a romantically tinted parabel about the original sin that might make you understand the most basic despiracy of all that we’ve found so far.
So, my house has a really nice view , while it's at just the right orbit of the village so that I get to take beautifull walks to whatever I need whenever I need it. And usually the weathers great.
But what I love to do most of all is look at it. Watching the birds and the bees by day , the bats and the firefly's by night and the rocket powered foo fighters called swallows through it all, all the time. (And occasional beautiful rarities like deer and Falcons and wolves and bulls and bears and stuff. )
I've never liked actually gardening though... and I have plenty of neighbours below me, so I set it all up as a managed service. The people who live there below me take care of that garden like their life depends on it , so it's always nice. And I can just sit there and enjoy the sights and sounds and smells of it all without ever doing a god damn thing about it. But the results always perfect see. And it doesnt cost me a dime yet they work to maintain my perfection of a garden. It's full of food and most of it just ripe for my picking straight from the plant too. But that's a seasonal thing.
Whenever someone says it's not my garden, I remind them of the fact that I know perfectly well I am not IN the garden , because the only way to do that would be to actually work ON the garden, and like I said... I don't like to do that. And when I would be down there it would all look different because of perspective see? Things are arranged just right, on that steep sloping hill below me, so that it looks nice from my point of view there and then. It doesnt look so good from the other side , and that's by design too. Shadows see? And that's just not me.
But that's all ok. I need a good place to drink my coffee and look around to learn how everything works see. Thank goodness it's just a game right?
And atleast it's quiet now, because let's face it... What the hell are you going to say now?
We're listening.
Don't be shy.
We're watching anyways.

Despiracy #0: The original sin was a lawn chair
The solutions are really simple.
Pay more attention.
Call it out when you see these things at play and say you don’t agree with their moronic paradigms.
That’s what you’re supposed to do! And you know it!
